I was inspired to write my series of guidebooks on autism and work from a deeply personal place. After being diagnosed with autism in 2015, I found myself with no guidance, no role models and no understanding of how to navigate the challenges of working life as an autistic person. I felt isolated, overwhelmed and often invisible. That experience stayed with me, and I knew I wanted to create the resource I wish I’d had: practical, compassionate advice not only for autistic people entering or navigating the world of work, but also for the line managers who support them. I truly believe that so many autistic people could thrive in employment if workplaces were more understanding, flexible and aware; my books are my way of helping make that possible.
